OUGD 503 - Dialogue

As this is only a really simple brief, I wanted to keep it as a nice quick turn-around. I quickly thought about some ideas that I could use to create designs based around 'dialogue':

Broken Communication -

  • Glitch
  • Missing letters/segments
Speech/Sounds -
  • Visual sound - Wavelengths etc.
  • How things are pronounced
Languages -
  • Animals? - Whales, dolphins etc.

And then from these various different ideas, I came up with another list of further ideas:
  • Missinterpretation
  • Pronunciation*
  • Waves - Visual Sound
  • Language & Dialect*
  • Subliminal Messaging
  • Body Language/Facial Expression
(* represents an idea that I really like and decided to run with)

Outcome 1 - 'Say Hello':

Outcome 2 - 'D is for...':

Outcome 3 - 'Where, were, wear, we're':

Outcome 4 - 'The Blind Story':

As more of an exercise than anything else, me and Harrison decided that it could be interesting to work on a collaboration, thus having an actual dialogue through both actual words and design. We took it in turns to add to or change a design until we felt like we have a final outcome. I like it as I feel as though it is an interesting concept that almost questions dialogue and represents the different perspectives through the repetition of the words.
