Now that I had come up with a logo that we were happy with, I began creating a new lay-out for the cover of the magazine. I used actual content from the most recent issue of The Big Issue. Here are the various attempts and variations that I created before creating the final outcome:
Below is the final outcome, complete with actual text and the area for the vendor's code. We didn't however create the back of the magazine as when we mock this up it won't be visible.
We thought that since this was going to be sent to The Big Issue, we could create a sort of template that we help them keep all of their future lay-outs consistent. This involved turning all text and the image into blocks of colour, almost like a scamp. This is how that looked:
I also wanted to create a contents page in the same style as the new cover. This involved using images with the same duotone as well as our typeface for numbers. Once again, actual content was taken from the issue we had bought at the start of the project:
We decided to use the design below as our final outcome.
