For the cover of the magazine, we wanted to re-create The Big Issue logo using our own typeface. We decided to try various different lay-outs and versions in order to see which was the best outcome. Here are my attempts:
From all of these attempts, we felt that the best were the simplest as it allowed our new typeface to talk for itself. We decided that we wanted to use this lay-out, but replace the small text with an existing typeface:
