OUGD 504 - Spot Varnishing

After having done some research into other various forms of finishing and alternate processes, I realised that I could also experiment with spot varnishing. This involves screen printing once again, this time simply re-printing the image once again, directly over the top, but this time with spot varnish as opposed to acrylic. I picked out a few of my designs that I felt would benefit most from the application of spot varnish and just went for it, as it is a simple process. Here is what I managed to get:

As you can see, it gives the images a slightly more glossy finish which adds a slight edge to the image, making it almost interactive; when shown to people they often move it around in the light to see how the spot varnish effects it. Overall, I think that this has proven to be an effective process, simple to implement, that just gives your image a more professional aesthetic. It is definitely something that I will think about using again in the future in order to enhance the appearance of my final outcomes.
