OUGD 404 - Study Task 5

To start this brief I referred to my '10 Things To Know About Graphic Design' response. In that, I had stated that I felt these were the most important 10:
  • Font and Typeface
  • Readability and Legibility
  • Kerning and Tracking
  • Lay-Out and Grid
  • CMYK and RGB
  • Rods and Cones
  • The Anatomy of Type
  • Semiotics
  • The Pantone Colour Guide
  • Itten's Laws of Colour
Using the research and information that I collected for these sections, I am going to produce a publication that demonstrates my abilities as well as presents my information. To do so, I will first produce a series of thumbnails exploring ways to visually present ideas.

This is a mock up of my basic overall lay-out for my book. I have used placeholder text and dummy images as to get a feel of how my final design would look. However, this will be changed if needed when adding my actual content.

I then started transferring my content and replacing the dummy images and placeholder text that is currently in it. However, as I actually designed my pages before I got my content, I may need to change things around in order for my content to now fit this design. However, although there may need to be some adjustments made, the general aesthetic of the design will stay the same. I will use the same grid system I have created for these pages and simply fit what I have into it.

This is my final outcome, including the contents page.

This is my cover that I have printed onto a different stock in order to add to the aesthetics, give my publication something different from everybody else's and provide some support to ensure it doesn't get easily damaged etc.
